. Meditation is a wonderful way of relaxing and getting away from everyday stresses of life. It is a way of escaping to anywhere you want to be. There are plenty of guided meditation CD's about to help you.
Try this suggestion......
It's a good idea to have a glass of water ready for after your meditation. Try to make sure you won't be disturbed. E.g. by making sure the phone is switch off.
Begin by sitting comfortably, feet flat on the floor, arms and legs uncrossed, hands facing upwards.
Take deep breaths in through you nose and out through your mouth and imagine yourself being surrounded by a beautiful white light of protection.
Now gradually let your whole body become relaxed. Do this by imagining each muscle in your body is relaxing more and more. Start at your feet and feel those muscles relaxing, then the muscles in your calves relaxing, then feel the muscles in your knees becoming relaxed, Let this wonderful feeling of relaxation travel up through your body as the muscles gradually relax in each part of your body. Relax each muscle in turn until all the muscles are relaxed to the top of your head. Sit quietly for a while and just let your mind wonder to where ever it wants to go.
When you are ready slowly open your eyes and rub your feet on the floor to become grounded again. Have a drop of water you have ready and you should feel calmer and relaxed than before you started your meditation. It gets easier the more you practice.
This is a good way of getting to know your 'inner' self.
Good luck.
